Abstract
- The normal growth of the neonatal kidney and the inhibition of clusterin expression depends on the activation of the angiotensin II (ANG II) AT1 receptor. AT1 receptors also regulates the expression of renal transforming growth factor-beta1(TGF-beta1) in the obstructed kidneys but not in normal neonatal kidneys, whereas the renal epidermal growth factor (EGF) is regulated by AT1 receptors regardless of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). ANG II also alters the cellular response to cytokines, growth factor and glycoproteins, impairing renal growth and development.
