Abstract

The vortex lattice method is used to analyze the coupled flap-lag-torsion aeroelastic behavior of multibladed hingeless rotors in the hovering flight condition. A finite element beam model is employed to to take into account the various aerodynamic parameters, such as centrifugal forces and aerodynamic loads. The results indicate that the steady equilibrium and aerodynamic stability of hovering rotors are significantly affected by the three-dimensional tip and realistic wake effects.
