Expression of gastric and colonic H(super +)-K(super +)-ATPase in the rat kidney

The gastric and colonic H(super +)-K(super +) adenosine triphosphatase, H(super +)-K(super +)-ATPase, has been located in mRNA of the mammalian kidney. This detection is made possible by polymerase chain reaction in rat kidney mRNA. Nevertheless, it remains only an assumption that renal H(super +)-K(super +)-ATPase promotes the secretion of hydrogen and reabsorption of potassium by the collecting duct of kidney.
