Abstract

The rate of economic development is less in rural areas of the Pennsylvania compared to that in the urban areas. Telecommunication can be a cost-effective substitute of capital in the production process and can help in the economic development of rural areas. Telecommunication facility can be used in the transportation of medicine in rural areas, and in distance learning process to improve the educational achievement. The rural areas are lacking from advanced telecommunicational services. Modernisation of telecommunication in rural areas can help to improve the job situation.
