Midwestern real estate developers should investigate sites for coal mines as many regions in the Midwestern states are under threats of old cold mines, some as old as 50 or 100 years old. The assessment of subsidence potential must be done by knowledgeable individuals for the risk assessment will determine the developer's course of action.
