Abstract

A particle-on-substance stagnation flow reactor (PS-SFR) is used to study the heterogeneous reaction kinetics of gaseous nitric acid (HN[O.sub.3]) with calcium carbonate (CaC[O.sub.3]) particles. The variation of the apparent, pseudo first order rate constant with particle loading and HN[O.sub.3] concentration is consistent with the pseudo first-order reaction assumption and a diffusion kinetic analysis.
