Abstract

The history of the African migrant presence in Europe, the contexts that shape contemporary migration and international migration from Africa that influence researchers from the 1960s onwards is discussed. The double engagement of migrants with Africa and Europe is examined across three domains of African migrants and refugees in Europe- livelihood, families and identities.
