Partnering - a new philosophy in business

The US Army Corps of Engineers has benefitted from partnering with contractors on its construction projects. Partnering is beneficial to contractors, vendors, designers and owners because it minimizes exposure to litigation and claims. The successful application of the concept, however, requires empowered participants to solve problems once they occur, conduct periodic evaluations, implement dispute resolution mechanisms and use workshops to hammer out common goals on safety, scheduling, payment and other issues.
