Abstract: High potential for outcrossing is the primary reproductive character that mediates the representation of taxa in palynological records. Pollen present in lake sediments is primarily monoecious or dioecious taxa pollinated by anemophily or by insects. Flower morphology is a significant factor in determining the pollinator and the release of pollen.
