Abstract

Commercial fishing, logging and airplane flying were identified as the three most hazardous occupations by the US Bureau of labor Statistics in 1993 because of their high number of fatalities. One major factor that made these occupations highly dangerous is their dependence on weather conditions. Safety officials say that improved safety regulations and increased attention to safety measures will reduce the fatality rates of these occupations.
