Age-adjustment of income inequality trends: a methodological critique

A comparative assessment of the Paglin-type measure and an alternative age-adjustment procedure, based on an Entropy measure of dispersion, reveals that the former measure exaggerates the importance of age on profiles of trends in income inequality by more than 60%. The entropy measure allows accurate identification of age-related variations.
