Abstract

The killing of rat hepatocytes by rotenone and anoxia is arrested by the removal of Calcium ions from the culture medium or treating the hepatocytes with intracellular Calcium chelators. The process does not prevent the depletion of ATP and the mitochondiral membrane potential loss.
