Interesting anion-inclusion behavior of cucurbit[5]uril and its lanthanide-capped molecular capsule

The evaluation of the selective encapsulation behavior of cucurbit[5]uril and its lanthanide-capped molecular capsule toward nitrate and chloride ions is discussed. Results suggest the selective inclusion of nitrate ion in the metal-free host whereas the lanthanide-capped molecular capsule prefers the inclusion of chloride ion.
