Abstract
- The homeotic gene Sex combs reduced (Scr) is found in Drosophila melanogaster's Antennapedia complex and acts as a genetic transcription agent. Tests involving more sensitive anti-Scr antisera showed that the homeotic gene is also expressed in tissues of the ectodermal cell stripe, embryonic salivary glands and dorsal ridge. Thus, enhancer elements are required for Scr regulation in the labial segment and central nervous system.
