Magnetic properties of [Mn.sub.x][Ti.sub.1-x]N thin films grown by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy

Abstract

Omicron customized multiprobe plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PAMBE) system is used for growing high-quality [Mn.sub.x][Ti.sub.1-x]N thin films on MgO(001) substrates. Results show that Mn ions are in a divalent state and have uniformly substituted on the Ti cation sites without detectable clustering, thus showing room temperature ferromagnetism to be an important property of these films.
