Dental implants: a role in geriatric dentistry for general practice?

The use of dental implants has become common management strategy for replacing older patients' missing dentition. Dentists should assess their patients' medical, social, economic and resource backgrounds to make the appropriate treatment plan. The proper evaluation of fixed compared to removable implant-retained prostheses in the aging population is also discussed.
