Abstract

Most postmenopausal women do not enjoy preventive medical care despite their being prone to several late-life disabling diseases. Medical experts believe that to prevent disability in older women, they should be made to avail of or be given access to hormone replacement therapy, regular exercise, balanced diets, mammography/Pap smears and vitamin D and calcium supplements. Doctors should also regularly furnish older women with information on other available community health services and provide referral on other health practitioners.<br />Older women as patients are the mainstay of many primary care practices.
