Hero depicted in modern drama

The exploits of the Communist Party cadre Zhang Mingqi were reenacted on stage in Beijing, China, by the Jinzhou Song and Dance Ensemble of Liaoning province. Mingqi was the late secretary of the Jinzhou municipal Party committee, who is regarded as a modern-day hero. He was among the eight heroes cited by Premier Li Peng in a recent government work report. Mingqi died in Jul. 1994 during a major flood that hit his region.
