Abstract
- A study was conducted on the perceptions of self-efficacy and health attitudes of people afflicted with cerebral palsy who reside in communities. Results generally supported the findings of previous studies showing a link between self-efficacy and a person's functional, educational and financial status. Self-efficacy ratings were highest in people with the highest need for mechanical aids and lowest in people who most need personal assistance.<br />Historically, institutional settings constituted the framework in which an individual with a disability's health care needs were addressed (Batavia & Dejong, 1990).
