Abstract

Synthesis of the shape persistent two dimensional (2D) polymers by using rigid precursor molecules allows the polymers to arrange themselves into bilayers according to the internal orientation order. Homochiral interactions and reactive functions confined to planes allow covalent stitching of the precursors forming flat polymers. The final 2D polymers have a monodisperse thickness of five nanometers and polydisperse planar dimensions ranging from hundreds to thousands of nanometers.
