Abstract
- Analysis of alloreactivity in human adult and umbilical cord blood T cells in mixed leukocyte cultures upon exposure to an allogeneic lymphoblastoid line expressing costimulatory molecules shows that cord blood T cells exhibit unresponsiveness subsequent to alloantigen priming. Adding exogenous interleukin 2 does not avert unresponsiveness, which is long-lasting and maintained by anergy and activity of CD8+ suppressor cells.
