Abstract
- Extrinsic soluble signals in embryonic forebrain are crucial for the expression of embryonic radial glial identity. Radial glial characteristics are reexpressed by astrocytes in vitro in the presence of embryonic cortical signals and in vivo following transplantation into embryonic neocortex. Thus, inducing signals are vital for the transformation of radial glia cells into astrocytes.
