Abstract

The effect of transverse stress on cable-in-conduit conductors (CICC) used for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) magnets is discussed. Findings reveal the maximum transverse stress to be 100 MPa on degradation of the cable critical current to roughly 30 percent of its initial value.
