Abstract
- A survey of 40 families in Ireland who had suffered bereavement due to sudden infant death syndrome found that half had another children or were expecting another, two years after the loss. Mothers tend to be keener to have another child than fathers, who are more likely to want to return to normal first. Most parents found they enjoyed the subsequent child as a positive experience, though about a quarter felt there were problems such as being afraid to feel too much affection in case the child died. Parents tended to see the subsequent child as more easy going than the child which had died.
