Abstract

China will not have to import feedstuffs until the year 2030, remaining a net exporter of a number of commodities. Even a slowdown in the economy will not warrant importation of feedstuffs, as the country can meet its feed requirements with domestic production. This was gleaned from an assessment of the supply-demand situation in the country and an analysis of its trade patterns. The country, however, will still import certain feeds such as fish meal, barley and wheat. It may also have to source feeds overseas in some years owing to meager harvests.
