Abstract
- Proximal small bowel resection induces somatostatin (SS) and SS receptors in the pancreas to increase after wk and 1 mo of surgery along with a concomitant reduction in the inhibitory action of SS against adenylyl cyclase activity. These enhanced levels are normalized after six months of resection. The SS receptor binding activity inhibition by 5'-guanylylimidodiphosphate is also lowered.
