Abstract: The synthesis and characterization of volatile 1,1-dimethyl-2-(trimethylsilyl)hydrazido(1-) complexes of niobium, tantalum, molybdenum and tungsten are described. The hydrazine HN(Si[Me.sub.3])N[Me.sub.2](H-TDMH) is examined in order to find out if it is a suitable ligand for refractory metal precursor compounds.
