Chemical routes for the transformation of biomass into chemicals

Catalytic reactions which help to transform carbohydrates, vegetable oils, animal fats and terpenes into valuable chemicals and fine chemicals are reviewed and their applications are described. More focus is laid on chemical routes through heterogeneous catalysis and describing environmentally friendly catalytic processes.
