Abstract
- The main strength of artist Robert Morris is his ability to report on the important art movements of his time. His two-part retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum clearly demonstrates his reportorial skills. His work is presented in this exhibition, in a distancing manner, as the history or inventory of several art genres, thereby negating the possibility of demonstrating his individual art works to their most aesthetic or intellectual advantage. Thus, the retrospective does not showcase Morris' efforts to change his time but demonstrates how he observed and reported on it.
