Abstract

The preparation and characterization of a new family of dicopper(I) complexes containing Schiff-base ligands containing two tridentate binding sites linked by a xylyl spacer revealed the complexes to react very rapidly with [O.sub.2] to generate metastable [[[Cu.sup.III.sub.2][([mu]-O).sub.2](L)].sup.2} species.
