Abstract

Analysis of adult rabbit and neonatal cardiac myocytes using immunofluorescence at high resolution with immunogold shows the presence of dystrophin in developing transverse (T) tubules of the cardiac muscle. Dystrophin is present in the peripheral sarcolemma and T-tubular membrane but is not observed in the intercalated disk membranes. Cardiac and skeletal muscles exhibit different distribution of dystrophin in the T-tubules.
