Abstract

One-dimensional magnetophotonic crystal (MPC) is combined with micropatterned drive lines in order to develop thin-film-type magneto-optical spatial light modulator. A large enhancement is found in the Faraday rotation by using MPC and a trade-off relationship is observed in the optimization of the repetition number of the dielectric multilayer and the multiple number of the magnetic defect layer in the MPC.
