Expression of the neurotrophin receptor TrkC is linked to a favorable outcome in medulloblastoma

Abstract: Analysis of the expression of neurotrophins and neurotrophin receptor in medulloblastoma samples reveal that all the tumors display the expression of neurotrophin 3 mRNA and neurotrophin receptor Trkc expression. Trkc expression was variable and patients with high trkC mRNA expression display longer intervals and lack of disease progression than those that display lower levels and a suitable survival. Thus, trkC expression functions as a prognostic indicator of medulloblastoma.
