The 1995 outlook

The economic growth of the state of Illinois in 1994 will continue well into the following year. The economy will continue to be strong in 1995, with the growth in economic output expected to boost employment and income. On the fiscal front, Illinois could see a sharp increase in tax revenues, but also a rapid upward spiral of state expenditures. To remedy its structural deficit, the state government may have to implement a program that will either stunt the growth of annual spending or encourage annual revenue increases.
