Dressing down drives some stores out of biz; but other Michigan retailers have learned how to deal with everyday FridayWear

The corporate casual clothing trend in the auto industry has hurt many Michigan menswear retailers. Those stores that relied on tailored clothing for most of their business had to adapt or suffer losses. Many have folded. Department stores fared better by changing their product mix to include more casual items. The trend is accelerating, as Ford Motor Co has allowed casual dress all week, and more than half of all Michigan companies have some casual days.
