- Visa International garnered a contract to sponsor soccer's World Cup, one week after the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) settled a legal battle with MasterCard Inc. for $90 mil. MasterCard had sponsored the event for the past 16 years. Visa will pay $170 mil for the eight-year contract.
