Abstract
- A study of the internal migration pattern of the US shows that in the 1980s, there was a lot of 'uncompensated' migration without specific patterns, unlike that of the 1960s and the 1970s. Out-migration prevailed in states with a large energy sector while in-migration continued in states in the sunbelt including Arizona and Nevada. States with positive changes in demographic effectiveness had the lowest migration levels.
