Abstract
- Modification of the Mars regolith-atmosphere-cap CO2 distribution model by considering four new effects omitted earlier reveals new information about the Martian atmosphere. Thermal conduction factors in the surface boundary condition, the inconsistent solar constant, a long-term obliquity cycle and the erosion of atmospheric constituents are four new factors included in the model. Martian atmospheric pressure was constant when the perennial CO2 polar cap was absent. The presence of the CO2 polar cap caused the atmospheric presence to vary with polar surface temperature.
