Abstract

The reaction of covalent units consisting of a rigid base compound, flexible tethers and oxazolidine acrylamide monomers under free radical conditions through an addition, cyclization and chain transfer sequence produces macrocyclic precursors to n=2 telomers that exhibit narrow dispersity. These precursors undergo hydrolysis and esterification, generating telomers with excellent stereoselectivity and teloselectivity. All the constituents of the covalent unit exhibit a significant influence on the performance of the covalent assembly.
