Abstract
- Theoretical studies help derive quantized acoustic phonon modes for quantum- dot and quantum wire geometries that are useful in opto- and nanoelectronics. Derivation of the Hamiltonian values for deformation potential interactions along with the phonon modes enables the modeling of carrier-acoustic-phonon interactions in mesoscopic devices. The theoretical studies also indicate that selection rules govern the acoustic phonon-assisted mechanisms in spherical crystallites.
