Microscale electrolysis: synthesis of iodoform, its characterization, Faraday's Laws, and Avogadro's number

The synthesis of iodoform in the introductory chemistry laboratory can be used to illustrate the value of electrolysis in chemistry and determine Faraday's constant and Avogadro's number. Aqueous potassium iodide is electrolyzed in the presence of acetone to prepare iodoform. Experiment procedures, apparatus and reaction equations are included.
