[Pt.sup.II]-Mediated nitrile-tetramethylguanidine coupling as a key step for a novel synthesis of 1,6-dihydro-1,3,5-triazines

The reactions between platinum-bound RCN species and HN-E[R.sub.pi] to specific imines as guanidines are studied to perform and apply nitrile-guanidine coupling to the formation of 1,3-diaza-1,3-dienes. The results have ascertained that it constitutes a novel synthetic approach to a useful class of heterocyclic species like 1,6-dihydro-1,3,5-triazines.
