New lithium porphyrin derivatives: synthesis of Li2(P)(Et2O)2 (P = TTR, TBPP) and solution structure of Li2(TTP)(Et2O)2 by 7Li and 15N NMR

Abstract

A new modified existing procedure helps synthesize new lithium porphyrin derivatives Li2(P)(ether)2 (P = tetra-p-tolylporphyrin (TTP), tetrakis-(p-tert-butylphenyl)porphyrin). These derivatives are soluble in nonpolar solvents and have a well-defined stoichiometry. Variable-temperature multinuclear NMR spectroscopic studies help determine the solution structure of Li2(TTP)(Et2O)2. A new improved method helps synthesize 3,4-diethylpyrrole.
