Abstract

Neutron-diffraction and ac-susceptibility measurements of the magnetic ordering of Pr ions in Pb2Sr2PrCu3O8 indicate a magnetic transition and a three-dimensional magnetic ordering of Pr spins below the Neel temperature. There is a stronger coupling between the Pr atoms than among the Tb atoms. Pr hybridization along the C axis depends on oxygen concentration, as is evident from short-range correlations between Pr spins.
