Abstract
- William Graven wants to create a standard in the video industry for downloading movies onto video tape via phone wire, cable or satellite. Graven thinks people would like to be spared the burden of going to the video store to get movies, and his electronic delivery (ED) method can help. Graven's technology can enable special VCRs to convert the data comprising a movie in just minutes. Graven's company, Emc3 International Holding Company BV, of Amsterdam, Netherlands, is a small company funded by 15 investors. Graven says he has 14 letters of interest from Korean and Japanese VCR manufacturers. A major obstacle for Graven's technology is the fact that cable and telephone companies have already invested in other methods for downloading movies to viewers' homes.
