Abstract

An oligomeric DNA duplex having a cognate myb-binding region displaces 6-p-toluidino-2-naphthalenesulfonate (TNS) which is bound to a hydrophobic domain on the DNA-binding site of Drosophila c-myb protein (R123). Nonspecific DNA duplex oligomers have no influence and this suggests that displacement of TNS is sequence-specific. A portion of the DNA-binding domain of the protein comprises the bound TNS.
