Abstract

The disorder in zero-temperature random-field Ising model was varied to analyze hysteresis loops in first-order phase transitions. The hysteresis loops comprised small avalanches in specific magnetic systems. Mean-field theory and perturbation expansions facilitated the study of these transitions, which were numerically simulated in three dimensions.
