Abstract

An immunological analysis of Nb2 cells and mouse mammary gland explants suggests that JAK2, present in Nb2 cells and gland explants, is a prolactin (PRL) receptor-related tyrosine kinase which is induced upon ligand binding to PRL receptor. JAK2 acts as a signal mediator for other cytokine/hematopoietin receptors and indicates that these receptors share signaling pathways. JAK2 activation requires the formation of a receptor-JAK2 complex and a ligand-dependent event.
