Uneven results expected in fiscal 1994

The Japanese electronics and electrical products sector has suffered from both recession in Japan and falling exports due to the high value of the yen. Production of audio visual electronics goods is expected to fall by 11.9% in the 1994 FY compared with the previous year, mainly because exports have fallen. Liberalization of sales of cellular phones should help the telecommunications equipment industry in the second half of the 1994 FY, and liquid crystal displays are also expected to show growth.
