- Although Barclays PLC is in talks to acquire Dutch bank ABN AMRO Holding N.V., Citigroup Inc. is c onsidering a hostile takeover. The Barclays acquisition would be the largest bank deal in history, with ABN AMRO valued at $80 billion.
